Stop. Shhhhhhhh. Can you feel it? It’s Christmas, and it’s right around the corner. Most probably my favorite thing about Christmas is love. Sure, love is everywhere all the time, but during the Christmas season it seems to be under a magnifying glass. Many people seem to think that the world is filled with evil and hatred; evil people doing evil deeds. I see the opposite. I see a world filled with love. Sure, there are people that screw up and do things that are probably not very loving, but overall, I see a humanity that is brimming with love.
Yesterday I watched a film called “Love Actually”. I own the film and have seen it at least 7 or 8 times and I absolutely love it. It is one of my favorite films. It takes place around the Christmas season and tells 9 or 10 different stories of love. One of the most beautifull things this film communicates is how this world is filled with love, and not evil or hate. The openning and closing scenes of the film show the arival gate at Heathrow Airport. We see people hugging and kissing and laughing and smiling. We see love. The film opens with the following narrative:
“Seems to me that love is everywhere, often its not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but its always there. Fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge. They were all messages of love. If you look for it, Ive got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually, is, all around.”

Ryan, no one I know gets into Christmas as much as you. I’ve only seen “Love Actually” once before, but definitely enjoyed it, especially the closing scene. You know, how all it panned out into all those different frames. The “spirit of Christmas” is definitely the best thing about the holidays. Too bad people don’t concentrate on the good in the world throughout the entire year. So how many Christmas cds have you already listened to?

I have listened to Garth Brooks: “The Magic of Christmas” several times, and have downloaded other cool music as well. Take a look at the Christmas section down below and you’ll find what I have been watching and listening to. I just bought Brian Setzer’s “Boogie Woogie Christmas”. It is pretty good. I am going to buy Elf tomorrow…
