Care

A couple weeks ago at aqueous we introduced “Project Care”, which is our response to the conviction that we need to be a people who constantly care for the poor and the houseless community. Project Care allows us to easily become involved in this movement by doing just a little bit every week (click on the the picture to get a list of things that are needed). Many times we get the thought in our head that the little things that we can do, don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things: they aren’t going to solve world hunger and there will still be people going to bed hungry and in need of care. A friend of mine told me this story recently:

One evening, as a man was walking on the beach he came upon a horrific scene. Thousands of fish had washed up on shore and were unable to get back to the water. The man looked at the thousands upon thousands of fish flapping on the sand in suffocation, and began to pick them up one by one and throw them back into the water. Another man, also out for a leisurely stroll on the beach, came up to this man who is throwing these fish into the ocean, and says: “What are you doing? Don’t you see that there are thousands and thousands of fish on this shore, how could you possibly make a difference?” The man throwing the fish turned and looked at the questioner as he threw another fish into the ocean and said: “It made a difference to that one.”

We can’t sell ourselves short just because we don’t have enough hands to throw every fish back into the ocean, but we should begin using the hands that we do have to make a difference to the few. I pray that you and I begin to be moved to compassion and care for those who have so little.

love it. Project care will make a difference man. May want to look into other non-profits that distribute items, most of what we collect through trashcan can make a difference we pass on to a few other non-profits that distribute it for us. other than the houseless that share life with us–who are in constant need of this and that, coming alongside of other organizations has been great.
