Someday soon

I saw Children of Men last week and my initial thoughts were that it would have something more to say about life now. I had hoped that it would be more of a social commentary. After some down time, thinking about the film, talking with others, I have come to realize that the film does exactly that. It is so subversive, yet it is so in such a hidden way. Curion flashes these little snippets on the screen, and before you realized what has hit you, it is gone. Much like a hit-and-run that leave you incredibly disoriented.

Other films I am waiting to see:

The Queen

Volver

The Last King of Scotland

Pan’s Labrynth

Babel

  1. Oooh, I am really looking forward to seeing Children of Men, along with The Last King of Scotland (especially dear to my heart since I’ve been in Uganda and seen the aftermath), and Babel.

I don’t know too much about the others, but I’ll look into them (or ask Nathan about them, haha!)
